WEEKEND IN REVIEW.........

Once again another great weekend has come to a close.  They never seem to last long enough.  This one would have been picture perfect if my hubby had been here for all of it.

He has National Guard all weekend and it took him away from us more than usual. I don't always like it and I don't always understand it.    I was never around anyone "military" growing up so it's still all so new to me and I do get jealous and mad when he has drill all weekend for 12 hours a day and he misses out on family time.  I have the tendency to take it out on him which I know isn't fair.  I am still trying to adjust to being a military wife.  But at the end of the day I couldn't be more proud of my husband nor could I love him more! Besides, how many girls can say they have a real G.I.Joe?
Saturday morning, the family headed to Lowe's bright and early.  By family I mean 10 of us!  Nana, Paw-Paw, myself, Landon, Andrew, Caden, Uncle Bubby, Jake, Kayleigh, and Eli!  It was the first time for the kids to attend BUILD AND GROW.  We are TOTALLY hooked!  It was SO MUCH FUN!  The kids all got an apron and name tag to keep and each time they come to a Build and Grow they are given a patch to iron onto their apron!  This week's craft was a "Rumblin' Race Car".  They were each given a kit and we built wood race cars complete with sound and decals!  These kids were LOVING IT!  Even Eli!  We got to see friends we knew too!  After the crafts they got cookies (how can you go wrong?!) and certificates!  It was such a great time!  Thanks to my MOMMY AND ME friends for telling me about this great activity!  For the rest of you, please check it out for your little ones!

Testing out the race cars!  LOL

Saturday afternoon...mom and Bubby took care of the kiddos and I headed over to visit my dad and watch the UK GAME!  Ahhhhh, peace - quiet and Wildcats!

While I was hanging with dad watching the game and eating Taco Bell.....Bubby was at home making chili! YUM!
Dad and I headed back over to my house after the game.  He and Bubby fixed my van...I have wheels again!  YAY!  Then we all had chili!

Sunday began another day.  Joe was off to Frankfort for drill and we were all off to church.  I had no idea the powerful church service that awaited us.  I have so LOVED attending Shelbyville First Baptist Church!  It's amazing to see GOD working in our church and in the lives of those who attend there as well. I was in awe of the love and power of Him that I saw in our church Sunday morning! Revival is alive and well in our church!

After church I took my boys out to lunch for a healthy meal at McDonalds!  LOL
When Bubby got home he pitched a tent on the deck for the kids to play...they LOVED it!

While they played camp out...I washed cups....over 30 to be exact. I mean REALLY?!
Joe was home by 5 (YAY!) so after dinner and when it got nice and dark...all 9 of us and Tucker got in the tent....I only wish I had pics of that! It was truly an adventure! I love having such great memories with my family!  It's always chaos but sometimes chaos isn't a bad thing!

HOPE YOU ALL HAD A GREAT WEEKEND TOO!

1.  The 70 degree weather yesterday was WONDERFUL! The fact it was that warm in February...EVEN BETTER!

2.  As most know, I am an AVID American Idol fan!  I don't miss it!  This year I was pretty dejected when some of my favorites were sent home!  I was down right angry at those judges...what were they deaf?  Then...last night....I saw a flicker of hope and they may redeem themselves.  They are bringing back on more guy to make it a top 13.  That means my VERY favorite contestant has a chance to come back.  With the 3 other guys he is up against I see it as no competition.  I just PRAY the judges feel the same!  I got so excited when I saw his picture at the end of last night's episode that it worried my brother and my hubby!  LOL  I just KNOW they will bring Johnny back!!!!

3.  FAMILY TIME!
Over the past week, my family of 5 has had a lot of just family time.  My brother has been out with friends and his kids have been spending some time with their mom.  I love them all but it was really nice to just have some family time with Joe and my boys.  I miss that sometimes and it was a nice chance of pace.  I just love my boys! They make me so happy and I feel so blessed!

 4. My new bag for summer!
 5.  My new nail polish!

HAPPY WEEKEND!

BACK ON TRACK - FRIDAY FAVES!

  I nearly forgot...yet again.....about my 5 favorites on Friday.
This was a tradition when I blogged more routinely!
I am excited to be at it again!
Let me show you my 5 favorites this week:

1. This dress from Sears!  YES Sears!  I CAN NOT STAND ANY of the Kardashians.  That being said...I totally LOVE their new line of apparel and accessories at Sears! This dress happens to be my VERY favorite and I plan to buy it ASAP!  I normally don't splurge but this is a TOTAL MUST HAVE!

2.  REVENGE - By far my FAVORITE show and this week it totally DELIVERED on suspense and surprise!  This show never disappoints! I LOVE it!

3.  THE GRAMMY'S!  Once again...they delivered! The fashion!  The music!  The drama!  LOVE LOVE LOVE!  I will be the first to admit when it comes to Nicki Minaj - what the hey was she smoking?!  LOL  Otherwise, you can't go wrong with Adam Levine playing along beside The Beach Boys, Adele singing again, Jennifer Hudson honoring Whitney Houston (RIP Whitney!) and L L Cool J opening the show with a prayer!  And let us not forget Rhiana....I am totally LOVING her new look!  FANTASTIC!  Who can mention Rhiana w/o mention of Chris Brown, right!?, well I may not like the kid but the kid can dance! VERY entertaining! It was fantastic all around!

4.  Yes I have read the Twilight Saga ...all of them....several times.  And yes I have seen the Twilight Saga movies thus far....all 4 of them at this point....several times.  But I can't get over my love affair with Breaking Dawn!  Having seen it several times at the theater and now here at home (Had to buy the Wedding Edition at Wal-Mart ASAP! NATURALLY) I just can't get over how great it was and what a wonderful job they did making this movie! I don't think I could ever tire of it!  Makes me even more excited to see the next!  Is that even possible?

5.  The one medicine that has let me sleep this week while fighting this horrible cold! I am still not better after 4 days but this is sure helping me rest at night! Even if it does taste like rotted grapefruit!
So there you have it....my 5 favorites this week!

Wishing you all a safe and wonderful weekend!

My Old Green Chair

When my MeMe (my dad's mom) passed away 6 years ago, I was given her green chair.
This is one of my few prized possessions....simply because it belonged to my MeMe....the grandmother of all grandmothers...the woman who inspired me and loved me and was by far the most amazing woman I have EVER met.  This chair has held my up while I held my crying and sleeping babies.  This chair has kept me comfy while I have read books.  This chair has been loved by 6 kiddos in this house.  This chair helped me get on my feet after surgery.  I LOVE this chair!  It's a constant reminder of my MeMe as well.

This chair has been loved so much.  It's worn and beat up and in need of some TLC.

I have been thinking for sometime of recovering this chair.  Yet I had no idea which direction I wanted to go.  I could not decide what the main purpose of my chair would be.

That was until I went into Making Ends Meet a few weeks ago with my mom.  There in the shop sat a chair...just like my old green chair .....it had been reupholstered and was AMAZING!  It was right then and there that I knew that was to be the future of my new chair.  IT WAS GOING TO BE MY CRAFT CHAIR!  And I wanted to upholster it pretty much like the chair I was looking at in Making Ends Meet!

My MeMe LOVED to do crafts and quilting and knitting and such.  She was AMAZING to say the very least.  Some of my fondest memories were making crafts with her.  We made all sorts of wonderful home decor.  She even had a few shops in her lifetime where she sold the beautiful things she made.  She could do it all!  I like to think I get my crafting skills from her.....even though they are not nearly as wonderful as hers were!  None the less....she taught me all I know.

What an awesome tribute it would be to make her old green chair my new craft chair.  There would be no better chair to sit in while I do my crafting.  A perfect place for that chair.

So...as soon as I can get it all together and find someone who can upholster the chair the way I want and at a price I can afford.......I hope this will be an idea of what my old green chair will soon become.....I know my MeMe would LOVE it!
